at 2021 MPhil Programme in Applied Ethics in Stellenbosch, Western Cape

This one-year programme is offered by the Centre for Applied Ethics (CAE) in the Department of Philosophy. The programme aims to equip professionals in the fields of medicine, business, the environment, government, policymaking, education and the NGO sector, with the
knowledge and skills required to address the moral issues they confront in their respective fields.

Applications are now open for the 2021 intake. Students register for the MPhil (Applied Ethics) programme and select one of following specialisations: Biomedical Ethics, Business Ethics, Environmental Ethics, or Social and Political Ethics.

Structure: On-campus tuition for two one-week sessions (one in the first and one in the second semester) combined with structured selfstudy. Depending on the situation around Covid-19, the programme might be offered online; successful applicants will be informed in time.
The language of instruction is English. Participants in the programme have to write a thesis which constitutes 50% of the final mark.

Requirements: Normally four years of university training, which includes a Bachelor’s degree plus an Honours degree, or a postgraduate diploma in philosophy or applied ethics. Applicants should clearly state their background in philosophy and/or applied ethics
