Job Purpose: Setting the strategic direction, goals and objectives of SAMA ensuring that SAMA’s Members value proposition is enhanced, providing strategic, financial, and operational leadership through working with the Board of Directors and the SAMA Executive Management (EXCO). The CEO is the highest executive decision-making authority of SAMA and is delegated with authority from, and accountable to the Board for the development and successful implementation of strategy and the overall management and performance of SAMA within the framework of its policies, reserved powers, and routine reporting requirements, consistent with the primary aim of enhancing the objectives of SAMA.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Growing the membership base of SAMA to ensure long-term sustainability.
2. Oversee the development and implementation of SAMA’s strategic plan to achieve the organisation’s vision, mission, strategic goals, and objectives.
3. Lead and create a high-performance culture of maintaining the highest performance standards and outcomes, ethical and governance standards, accountability, personnel growth, teamwork in delivering service to SAMA Members.
4. Establish and manage strategic stakeholders’ relationships towards the aim of “uniting doctors for the health of nation”.
5. Explore and develop new strategic partnerships and commercial avenues that capacitate and strengthen SAMA’s role of advocacy and representing the interests of SAMA members.
6. Manage SAMA’s strategic risks and regulatory compliance requirements.
7. Report to the SAMA Board, Office of the Chair, SAMA Board Committees and SAMA structures on performance, attainment of key strategic outcomes, business risks, and challenges facing SAMA members with proposed mitigation strategies or solutions.
8. Ensure that appropriate policies, systems, internal controls, and procedures are formulated and implemented, monitoring implementation and adherence thereto.
9. Delegate any other power delegated to the CEO in the Delegation of Authority as reviewed and approved by the Board from time to time.
10. Be responsible directly to the Board and perform such duties and exercise such powers and functions as may from time to time be reasonably assigned to or vested in him by the Board.
Job Requirements:

MBCHB degree (advantageous).
• Relevant business degree will be an advantage– preferably an MBA or similar.
• 5 – 10 years of work experience in a business or corporate health sector, providing strategic direction.
• Previous experience as a CEO or Head of Department or Division.
• Strong business background and management skills.
• Proven managerial track record showing strong business acumen in running sustainable organisations and implementing turnaround strategies.
• Proven ability of achieving set strategic goals and objectives.
